During my 2ww, after we DTD, you know…BD. We got a BFN. My DH and I ended up having IUI x 4 and 1 xIVF, where we transferred on a 5DT. I got a BFP a matter of DP my O. I was constantly checking CM…..We got our BFP finally. when I POAS, I used a CBD which confirmed I was about to become a mummy!

On the road to Motherhood, I was stumped by lots of abbreviations and acronyms frequently used on online support groups where women discuss their trying to conceive experiences.
Don’t worry, It’s not secret code. Just simplified.
Here’s a list that you might find helpful along the way….
2WW: Two week wait (before testing) Also TWW
AF: Aunt Flo, your period.
BBD – Basal body temperature
BD: Baby Dance. Have intercourse for conception purposes or by extension any form of insemination.
BFN: Big Fat Negative (pregnancy test)
BFP: Big Fat Positive (pregnancy test)
BP – Blood Pressure
CB / CBD – Clear blue pregnancy test / clear blue digital
CD: Cycle Day
CM: Cervical mucus, also known as cervical fluid. It is fluid produced by your cervix as you approach ovulation due to increased estrogen.
CP: Cervical Position / Chemical Pregnancy
DH, DD, DS: Dear Husband, Dear Daughter, Dear Son
DPO: Days Past Ovulation
DP / DT: Days Past / Day Transfer (6DP5DT means 6 days past 5 day transfer)
EC: Egg Collection
EDD: Estimated Due Date
ER: Egg Retrieval
EWCM: Eggwhite cervical mucus.
FMU – First morning urine – your pee has a higher concentration of hormones in the morning, so a pregnancy test may give a positive result sooner if you use it then.
FRER – First Response Early Result (a specific brand of pregnancy test)
FSH: Follicle Stimulating Hormone
GnRH: Gonadotropin-releasing hormone
HcG: Hormone detected by pregnancy tests. Human Chorionic Gonadotropin.
HPT: Home pregnancy test. Measures levels of the hormone hcG which are produced in pregnancy.
HSG – Hysterosalpingogram (an X-ray of the womb and fallopian tubes) Also known as Hycosy.
IVI: Intra-vaginal insemination
ICI: Intra-cervical insemination
IUI: Intra-uterine insemination
IVF: In-vitro fertilization
LH: Luteinizing Hormone
LMP: Last menstrual period. The first day of your last period.
LOL: Laughing out loud
LP: Luteal Phase
LPD: Luteal Phase Defect
M/C: Miscarriage
O: Ovulation
OPK: Ovulation Prediction Kit. OPKs measure luteinizing hormone, the last hormone to peak before ovulation.
PGS: Pre-implantation genetic screening – involves checking the chromosomes of embryos conceived by IVF or ICSI for common abnormalities.
POAS: Pee on a stick
