Kickstart 2017 – Our New Relationship With Food…

I recently posted about the breakdown of my relationship with food.

Today, I’ve put together a 4 week meal plan for us to start our new relationship with food, money and overall health…. and my taste buds are high fiving.
Each week, I’ve tried to incorporate some of our family favourites, a variety of different dishes, some brand new, never tried before dishes and some sneaky, really bad for you, ‘mummy needs a break’ foods.

You will see 1  symbol during the week…. this means that it’s Keiths day to help with cooking duty, whether that’s prepping or actually tackling a recipe himself.

I’ve plucked out some lovely, healthy meals for us all to try and I’m really excited to see how they turn out. It’s very realistic, we have a cheeky chippy dinner thrown in every 2 weeks and Saturdays are our ‘Free day’ to chose either a takeaway or something to prepare together. A lot of the dishes I’ve picked are one pot, traybakes that I can easily prepare beforehand to make life just that little bit easier.

I plan to serve the boys the same dishes Keith and I will be having in the evenings, just adjusting some of the recipes so not too hot (chilli) and not too salty (although I don’t ever add salt to my cooking anyway).

Lunches are set for the week for both myself and the boys to enjoy together, and evening meals will be made up enough to pack up for Keiths lunch the following day. I’m also going to dust off the crock pot for a no fuss, slow cooked meal once a week!!!
Don’t get me wrong, this could all go to pot. But we have to start somewhere and the boys fussiness with food has stemmed from me eating quick and easy foods, especially during the day.  I believe if I stick to this plan and keep rotating the meals, eventually it will pay off for all of us, on our health, our pockets and the boys future relationship with food.
